Dog Allergy Tips

by Barbara

Let's start with some dog allergy tips to break the ice

Dog Allergy Tip #1:
How to relief your dog's (environmental) allergy symptoms
Cool baths with or without colloidal oatmeal, Epsom salts, or medicated shampoos. This can be done frequently but provides only temporary relief. It removes the allergens from your dog's coat.

Dog Allergy Tip #2:

Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids supplements

These fatty acids are natural anti-inflammatory agents. They reportedly are helpful in 20% of allergic dogs.

Dog Allergy Tip #3:

Hypoallergenic dog food?

Just because a food is labeled "Lamb and Rice" do not assume it is hypoallergenic. Many contain wheat, corn, soy, beef or preservatives. Also your dog could be allergic to lamb and/or rice! So the term 'hypoallergenic' is only valid in those cases where your dog is not allergic to any of the ingredients.

Dog Allergy Tip #4:

Give your dog a little bit of Tender, Love and Care

When your dog is uncomfortable and itching like crazy, then don't expect much from training sessions (if any). It will be difficult for your furry friend to concentrate on the exercises.
